Ringmasters and Jeremy Connor
This is me singing with 3/4 of Ringmasters when they came to visit my college. This song is called "Blue Skies" and is arranged by Clay Hine. Martin was feeling under the weather, so I asked Rasmus to sing bass with us!

I'm not sure what the name of this song is. It was at the Toronto 2013 Finals Night Afterglow. Sorry for filming in portrait mode, I didn't think about the black space.
Nicely done.
My favorite song by my favorite barbershop group
I have played in orchestras my entire life but this kind of singing fascinates me. The harmony is so cool and intonation is just dead on I can hear the beats. And the one guy that holds the note forever, fantastic!
I grew up loving (and still love) classical music and love singing classical masterworks, etc. But when I found barbershop, and the attention paid to close, tight, accurate harmonizing... I fell in love. I still spend time with classical, but have found this to be an extremely fun hobby, and a great community! There are barbershop choruses ALL OVER -- men's, women's, mixed. Find a chorus and try it out!
What’s the lyrics at 0:52
Never saw the sun shinin’ so bright, never saw things goin’ so right
its the 30 second high note at the end for me
He’ll never forget this
-- Nailed it!
Wow you did great!
Are you still doing barbershop or something similar? You are very talented
Freaking. Killed. IT ❗💥💥💥
What was Rasmus signaling to Emmanuel towards the end. Did they switch. Anyways great job!
@@jbconnor3 so I hear a Gbadd9 chord I assume: Rasmus: Gb3 You: Db4 Jacob: Ab4 Emanuel: Bb4
@@jbconnor3 well dang everyone is singing "Tenor" at one point lol. He is one of the best baritones. He blends so well
@@jbconnor3 I love barbershop so much I am glad I got into my freshman year in college. I sing lead but on occasion Tenor in our university's barbershop ensemble. I have a high tenor that's why I can sing both lead and Tenor haha
@@jbconnor3 I really want to try my hand at baritone as well haha
@@jbconnor3 and I will most definitely
Honestly the most impressive part of this is rasmus at 0:28 bc he’s like 10 cents flat and then adjusts himself lmao like how do these people just know how to do that
@@jbconnor3 right haha 😂 also I’m sure in the last 6 years you’ve been told this a lot but great job singing with them! I bet that was a great time!
Wait was rasmus sight reading this wtf
Only cuz it's bass
@@rooty_rootz I know it’s just impressive that he did it so accurately
@@Graham_M ohh I thought you meant the opposite as in like "how does he not know the tag by heart!?"
@@rooty_rootz ohhhhh of course not, Rasmus is ridiculously talented. All of them are haha
I was there that night! Amazing show and a good group of dudes! Jeremy you sound awesome here.
I’m looking to start singing barborshop with some friends and I was just wondering what song that is because holy cow I love it!!!
Thank you so much!!!
Great job bucko!!! 😎😎😎
Sheet music?
wow! you have such a powerful and healthy voice! it’s impressive that you can hold your own with three aic singers. i hope your singing has only gotten better over the years :)
jbconnor3 you should definitely post some more videos of you singing! i’ve recently gotten ahold of the sheet music for blue skies and have referenced back to this video many times as an example of how this arrangement should sound.
Who did the last overtone ? And did you shift from lead to tenor?
Potential gold medal lead?
@@jbconnor3 you gotta think, the chord wouldn't be there without your voice locking into it. This was awesome!
What harmony did you sing? I can see people switching harmonies
@@jbconnor3 tight harmonies and overtones are simply amazing buddy...I know about them they are really mind-blowing but singing with them is really a honour Cheers
@@jbconnor3 and the tenors last note? Was it the baritone or the lead they have always? Cause they can sing any parts they want they are so impressive
@@jbconnor3 all the best for your future singing
jbconnor3 was Rasmus sight reading the part? Very impressive.
Was Rasmus sight reading?
This was five years ago! I'd love to know where your barbershop journey has taken you.
@@jbconnor3 I just found out about this style of music a month ago and I'm so into it. There's something about barbershop harmony that's just so satisfying! I've learned a few tags (by myself cause I don't have any barbershop friends) and I dream of singing in a quartet one day. Now I'm looking for a barbershop community in Berlin, where I live, to hopefully begin my journey. Just dreaming about singing tags with my friends makes me so excited! Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your musical endeavors!
@@jbconnor3 That's also the first impression I got of the barbershop community - small but friendly. I'm graduating high school at the moment, so there's a great deal of uncertainty in my life right now. This could be a great way to find like-minded people and connect. I might also start taking singing lessons to build my skill and (more importantly) my confidence, so that I'll actually have the courage to sing with people as skilled as the pros! I'm not very good yet at picking up a part very quickly, but I know that's a muscle that can be trained and I'm so excited to learn!
@@jbconnor3 That's so nice, thanks so much! I don't have any more questions right now (and I should really go to bed), but I'll make sure to message you when I have another question!
Hey, I live in Berlin and I know a bunch of people here enthusiastic about Barbershop harmony (including me haha). I sing in a choir (classical, not Barbershop) and we have a lot of Barbershop enthusiastic people there, so many in fact that we started a WhatsApp group where we discuss all things Barbershop and where we (during non-corona times) regularly scheduled tag-days to learn and sing new tags. If you're still looking for people to sing with, just hit me up with a message :)
Damn Rasmus knows how to keep a quartet together
jbconnor3 you did an amazing job man
Who sang tenor at the end?
Jakob on Post, me on high 3
Champs deliver! Awesome
This is crazy! I left this comment here completely unaware I would see you in real life 8 hours later! I didn't get the chance to meet you, but I'll make sure to shake your hand next weekend at the convention! ( and maybe sing some tags?)
@@jbconnor3 rip every convention 😥
That must have been a real treat to get to sing with them. You did great.
jbconnor3 that's awesome. I wish you the best of luck. You have a great talent.
That was great. I am a Ringmaster's fanatic! Can you tell me the location of this remarkable venture?
Rasmus' "oxman-performance" at the tag!!!
Great lead. Sounds like you were meant to sing with them love them blend!
jbconnor3 no problem man. Find a quartet gold could be in your future.
Love the full Oxley at the end
que hermosooooo felicitaciones!!!!
So good!
Is that a over tone i hear?
BOOM! Great job, man!
Of course, man! Are you coming over for the Dutch Nationals in March 2017? I could always come over to HU as well ;). Will you be there in 2017?
holy crap you sound incredible!!! i'm so jealouss
YES! that was amazing.
come to my college and sing with my quartet ! haha
Is there a part that Rasmus can't sing? I've now heard him sing Tenor, Lead, Baritone, and Bass!
I just wonder why Emanuel didn't sing the bass part, I thought his timbre was a bit darker and lower than Rasmus's. Great performance!
@@Hanfgurkenhasser I think that Emanuel's voice is a little higher than Rasmus. Emanuel is more like a tenor 2 classically speaking
@@Hanfgurkenhasser that's probably why he doesn't sing the bass part
@Physikhasse Rasmus won gold mixed quartet with Potential Scandal more recently singing bass and did win a medal with Stockholm Syndrome, but as a tenor. Ridiculously talented man. Directs Zero8 and they got the third place chorus medal 2019 , also directs Pearls of the Sound ladies chorus and they got fourth place medal at internationals this year.
I mean, those are all the parts so you answered your own question
Dude awesome job!
Very well done!!
Dave his tenor is so great!
These guys have improved so much!!
And that's how you know they're good!
These guys are gonna win soon, no doubt about it
